Doda Toolkit by DodaTech

I've been using devtoys on Windows for years and was gutted there was no Linux version. Doda Toolkit is actually better though. 80 tools compared to devtoys' 30. The search palette (⌘K) is insanely fast, you can find any tool in seconds. I use the JSON formatter, base64 encoder, regex tester, and color picker daily. Everything runs locally, no data uploaded anywhere. The glassmorphism UI is also really nice to look at. Dark mode looks gorgeous.

I used to have like 15 tabs open with random online tools for work — CyberChef, JSON validators, image converters, etc. Doda Toolkit replaced all of them. The clipboard manager is a bonus I didn't know I needed. The favorites system lets me pin my most used tools. And since its 100% offline, I can work without internet which is great when Im on the train. The converter category has everything — units, currency, timezones, encoding. Honestly fantastic value for a free MIT licensed app.

Doda Toolkit covers a lot of ground — code tools, text manipulation, converters, security, network, design, system tools, everyday utilities. The breadth is impressive. My only issue is some tools are a bit shallow compared to dedicated apps. For example the image converter works for basic resizing but I still reach for GIMP for anything complex. But thats kind of the point — its not trying to replace Photoshop, its for the quick 80% of tasks you do every day. For that its perfect.

I'm a keyboard-driven developer and Doda Toolkit is a dream. Every single tool has a keyboard shortcut. ⌘K to search, hit enter, youre in the tool. No mouse needed. The theming is great too — dark, light, or system with smooth transitions. Cross platform is actually true — I run it on Fedora at work and Windows at home, identical experience. Recents and favorites sync... well they dont sync (because no accounts, which is good) but they persist locally which is fine.

As a sysadmin I need quick access to network tools, text processing, hash generators, and log analyzers. Doda Toolkit has all of these in one place. The search palette is a lifesaver when you need to find something fast. The network category has ping, traceroute, DNS lookup, port scanner, WHOIS lookup — everything I need. Would love to see an SSH client built in though. Also the code splitting means it starts up fast since it only loads tools you actually open.

I switched from Windows to Linux last year and the one thing I missed was devtoys. Doda Toolkit is not just a replacement, its actually better. 80 tools vs 30. Cross platform. Better UI. The code tools category has formatters for JSON, XML, YAML, SQL, HTML, CSS — all the ones I need. The security tools include hash generator, password generator, encryption tools. Its my most used app now. MIT licensed too so I can even contribute if I want. Highly recommend.
